Evanston Sustainability
Planning a community is, above all, an exercise in planning for the future. The things that make a place great today must endure to provide great benefit for future generations too.
As our city continues to grow, water will become more scarce. To ensure that future generations of Calgarians enjoy continued access to this precious resource, Evanston's planners, builders and engineers implemented measures such as water conserving appliances in homes and low-water landscaping designs. Thanks to their care for our environment and the efforts of homeowners, Evanston goes above and beyond guidelines suggested by Calgary Waterworks and Environment Canada.
Qualico provides a free rain barrel to every newly built home as it passes the water conservation inspection. That means your home was constructed in accordance with the following water conservation standards:
- Low water usage toilets and faucets
- Energy Star washing machines and dishwashers
- Insulated hot water taps
- Homeowner guidelines
